Compare

How this compares with the well-known packages

Moneybird, Jortt and e-Boekhouden.nl are good packages with hundreds of thousands of users. They have one thing in common: they assume you read Dutch.

What's the difference, briefly?

The big Dutch accounting packages — Moneybird, Jortt and e-Boekhouden.nl — are more mature, have more integrations and a far larger user base. They offer their interface in Dutch, and Moneybird also in English and German. None of the three supports Polish, Hungarian or Romanian, and none of them translates the ledger accounts themselves. Booxx is smaller and younger, but works fully in five languages down to the ledger, the outgoing invoices and the explanations of the VAT boxes. If you read Dutch fluently and need a lot of integrations, the established packages are probably the better fit; if you don't speak the Dutch language of bookkeeping, you can't do the core of the work there yourself.

Where they are better

  • They've been around longer and have a bigger user base, so more of the rough edges are worn off.
  • They have considerably more integrations with web shops, point-of-sale systems and time tracking.
  • They have a large network of bookkeepers who work with their software.
  • They have a mobile app; we are a website that works on your phone.

Where we make the difference

  • Five languages, and the translation reaches the ledger and the outgoing email.
  • Full double-entry bookkeeping with VAT returns, EU sales list and audit file — not an invoicing tool.
  • One price of €19 with no cap on entries or transactions.
  • €4 a month for books that are dormant, instead of paying on or cancelling.

Questions about switching

Can I bring my bookkeeping with me if I switch?

Yes. Every Dutch accounting package can produce an audit file (XAF) — that's a legal requirement. You import it here, including your chart of accounts, your entries and your open items.

Can I switch halfway through the year?

Yes. You pick a start date, import your audit file or your opening balance, and post here from that point on. The periods you've already filed with your previous package stay there.

Will my bookkeeper work with this?

They can see your books if you let them in, and they get the audit file in the format they're used to. If they'd rather work in their own package, that audit file is exactly what they need.

Why do you name your competitors?

Because you're going to compare anyway, and because we aren't better on every point. Above, per package, you'll find when you're better off there. That's fairer, and it saves you a month of trying things out.
